Canvas Classes run weekly as a 10-week session from March 23 – June 7, 2015. Class prices: 2 hr and 1 hr 45 min classes-$290, 1 hr 15 min classes-$275, 1 hr classes-$250, all materials included (except Freedom Pottery and Oil Painting). Classes may be pro-rated after start of session based on availability.

Studio Mix 1, 2 & 3

In our core foundation course students work in a variety of media and methods, such as graphite, pastel, acrylics, clay, printmaking, and collage. Portfolio Plus

(Pre-High School & Pre-College) Designed to individually guide artists through the development of a complete portfolio for college admissions using the individual school’s requirements as a guideline. Work will be representative of the student’s skill and style while teaching observational skills. Bring current work for critique & to help set goals. Freedom Pottery

Students of all ages have an opportunity to design, build, fire and glaze individual hand-built and wheel-thrown works in clay. This comprehensive class is for beginner, intermediate and advanced students who will be working on similar projects at different levels that will challenge and foster each one’s artistic freedom. Fashion Mix

Merging art & fashion, aspiring fashion designers are encouraged to explore the creative side of fashion. Study patterns & sewing machine basics while creating a head-to-toe outfit complete with hat, jewelry, top, skirt & embellished shoes… all ready for the runway! Drawing & Painting

Make two dimensions come alive. Observational Drawing

Observational Drawing is emphasized through the exploration of traditional techniques and materials. An understanding of aesthetic values and development of technical skills are achieved through a series of studio set-ups that deal with the composition, line quality, shape, volume, form/space construction & value. Jewelry Design

Create jewelry in traditional methods with your own unique design. Learn several cold connection processes and by the completion of the class, independently fabricate your special creations. Sophia Kho, Ayala Naphtali, Maricarmen Buckley

Oil Painting

Learn a basic approach to chiaroscuro (light-dark) studio painting in oils. Use classical composition, mix shadow color, mix local color, model form, master edgework, identify and correct common misconceptions of color value. Special focus will be on observational still life and landscape painting using the prismatic palette method. Lauren Andreach

Creating Comics

Channel your inner superhero and comedian. Character development, visual storytelling, comic strip paneling, pencils, inking, and coloring are just some of the skills learned in this exciting class.
