Canvas Studio Art invites the Two River community to explore their potential in our studio. Canvas encourages creative freedom, where students of all ages see possibilities. Our promise is to promote observation, reflection and practice.

Our Founders

Eileen Burgess

Eileen holds a BA in Communications and Fine Arts from Villanova University (’87). She has since studied at School of Visual Arts and Pratt Institute in New York. Eileen has a film production background having worked as a freelance film producer in Los Angeles, NY, and London. Eileen paints Atelier style with mentor Judy Martin and shows at the Red Bank Arts Alliance and Oceanic Library. She has four children and loving husband, the heart and soul of her life.

Beth Sillen

Beth grew up in Macon, GA and earned a BFA in drawing & painting from University of Georgia in Athens, GA and has studied abroad (Cortona, Italy) and in New York (Cooper Union, School of Visual Arts and Parsons). She has 20 years experience as an art director & graphic designer. She moved to Monmouth County from NYC in 1998 with her husband and two sons and continues to paint.

Meg Sellig

Meg holds a BA in Art History with a minor in Studio Art from University of New Hampshire (92) Teaching Certification (93) and a Master’s in Art Education (95). Professionally she worked at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, teaching school, family, and teacher programs from 1993-97. She married Ralf and moved to his hometown Frankfurt, Germany where they lived for seven years with their 3 children. There she lead family programs in German and English, at the Staedel Museum from 1998-2001. Meg has continued her art education in millinery, interior design, and bookbinding, as well as in studio programs at Rhode Island School of Design, NYU and the Studio Art Center International in Florence Italy.

Maricarmen Buckley

Maricarmen was born in Mexico City. She traveled extensively throughout the world with her family and lived in Beijing, China as well as London, England. Maricarmen graduated from the Instituto Tecnologico de la Moda in Mexico City in 1995 with a degree in clothing design, subsequently teaching design at the same school. She has been a designer for Ivonne, a retail-clothing brand in Mexico, and as a jewelry designer for Kho & Co. since 2003. Maricarmen is happily married with two children. She continues to paint and pursue class work in painting technique and practice.
